Tallow skincare is made with rendered beef tallow, a traditional ingredient that has been used for generations. It is naturally rich in skin-friendly fats and contains naturally occurring fat-soluble vitamins such as vitamins A, D, E and K.
What can I use your cooking tallow for?
Our cooking tallow is great for frying, roasting, baking and everyday cooking. It gives food a lovely traditional flavour and is a good alternative to many processed cooking fats.
How is your tallow made?
We take our time with the rendering process to clean and purify the fat properly. Our tallow is three times rendered to give you a clean, smooth and versatile product.
What is in your tallow?
Our pure beef tallow contains 100% beef suet. We keep it simple — just the way we like it.
How long can I store your tallow?
Because our tallow is pure beef fat and is three times rendered, it can be stored for a long time when kept properly. Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and always use a clean, dry utensil when handling it.
Why are vitamins A, D, E and K found in tallow?
These vitamins naturally occur in beef fat. Vitamin E, in particular, is known for its antioxidant properties, while vitamins A, D and K are naturally present in varying amounts. The exact levels can vary depending on the fat and how it is processed.
What makes VetSpens skincare different?
We believe in keeping skincare simple — using traditional ingredients and letting them do what they naturally do. Our tallow provides nourishing fats together with naturally occurring vitamins, without making skincare unnecessarily complicated.
What if I have sensitive skin?
Everyone's skin is different. If you're trying a new product, we recommend doing a small patch test first and seeing how your skin responds.
Can tallow help with very dry skin?
Tallow is rich in natural fats that help moisturise and soften dry skin. It can be especially comforting on areas that feel dry, rough or tight.
Why is vitamin E good for the skin?
Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps protect skin from oxidative stress. It is also commonly used in skincare to help support soft, moisturised skin.
Will tallow clog my pores?
Everyone's skin is different. While many people enjoy tallow-based skincare, some skin types may not respond to rich products in the same way. We recommend starting with a small amount and seeing how your skin responds.
Does tallow have a smell?
Pure, well-rendered tallow has very little to no noticeable smell. We take our time and gently render it at a low temperature to create a clean, mild and neutral-smelling tallow.
